Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 21 May 2026

1.Service

BriefNet ("we", "us") operates an online introduction platform enabling solicitors to publish legal instructions and chambers / clerks to tender barristers. We are not a law firm, barristers' chambers, or regulator.

2.Eligibility

Solicitor accounts are open to individuals working at an SRA-regulated firm. Chambers accounts are open to clerks acting for BSB-regulated chambers. Accounts may be suspended where eligibility cannot be verified.

3.Selection commitment

Solicitors agree, before viewing the list of tendered counsel, to confirm their selection of any counsel they instruct through BriefNet. This helps us to monitor and improve the service.

4.Cost

BriefNet is currently free to use for both solicitors and chambers. We may in future introduce a monthly subscription; if we do, we will notify users in advance and update these Terms.

5.Professional duties

All professional duties (regulatory, contractual, fiduciary) remain between the instructing solicitor and selected counsel. BriefNet is not a party to the retainer and accepts no liability for the conduct or outcome of any instruction.

6.Content

You are responsible for the accuracy of content you publish. Instructions and tenders must contain no privileged or client-identifying information beyond what is necessary to assess the brief.

7.Data

We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

8.Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts for breach of these Terms.

9.Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
