About BriefNet

What BriefNet is

BriefNet supports the existing solicitor - clerk relationship. Whether searching for last minute cover, or filling an unexpected gap in the diary, BriefNet facilitates the process.

Currently, solicitors have to send multiple emails, or call around multiple chambers to see who is available. The process of finding the right counsel can be time consuming, frustrating and result in limited options. BriefNet streamlines that process by taking your request to multiple chambers at once.

With chambers competing for the brief, you receive responses promptly, showing who is actually available. You can then look through available counsel and make your selection.

Chambers might have an unexpected diary gap, or want to develop work in a particular field of expertise. BriefNet brings that work to chambers, developing new relationships and ultimately increasing revenue.

What BriefNet is not

  • A law firm or a barristers' chambers. It is a purely independent technology service.
  • A regulator. Professional duties remain with counsel and the instructing solicitor.
  • A replacement for existing chambers relationships — it supplements them.

How it works

  1. A solicitor publishes an instruction with basic key information taking no time at all.
  2. Vetted chambers see the brief and tender counsel.
  3. The solicitor compares tenders and selects.
  4. Carry on as normal, BriefNet simply makes the connection, more efficiently

Cost

BriefNet is free to use for both solicitors and chambers. There are no per-brief fees, per-tender fees or commissions.

BriefNet is currently in its roll-out phase. We welcome feedback as to how it can be improved in any area. Please let us know your thoughts.
